Tournaments & Cash Games

July 30th, 2010 -- Posted in EthanCainePoker.com News | No Comments »

Been playing a lot of $1 tournaments for the last 3 weeks. Losing a lot of them but that’s because I’ve been so unfocused when playing. I decided to give them a rest and go back to cash games. Basically made back all the money I lost in the last 3 weeks in only 2 hours.

Gonna keep playing both but i will try and focus more on cash games.

The main reason i think I started doing better is because I switched to a standing workstation and I’m taking notes in players again.

I will do a separate post on the standing workstation but basically its just as it sounds, i stand up instead of sit on the computer. This has helped my focus and concentration. I’m quite pleased with the results.

As for the notes I have been making better calls and getting a better feel for how people play.

Anyway thats it for today I’m going to do some poker reading and go to bed.

Moved On Too Real Money Tournaments

I signed up for an account at PokerStrategy.com which is the internets largest FREE poker school. Excellent site. It has done alot to help my game and I am just finished the beginner reading material.

I decided to take the plunge…or rather dip my toe in and test the waters and play SnG $1 90 man tournaments. I just finished 4th out of 90 people with a grand total winnings of $7.65.

Honestly though, I started losing and in fact lost when I stopped doing what the PokerStrategy.com articles said to do.

SO this means I need to discipline myself to follow the guidelines laid down to the letter. Its the best way to get rid of the bad habits I still have.

Like anything worthwhile you have to master the basics and then you can get creative.
